THE STORY

While from New York, Gysele Ryder is a distinctly Bay Area artist, having spent her adult life in and out of studios in Oakland and San Francisco. She started as a DJ in the UC Berkeley student circuit, choosing then to pursue a career in audio and music production. Her first few albums were released under the moniker Grey Davies.

The start of the Gysele Ryder project represented a pivot from the souped-up electronic sound of Grey Davies to a more.jazz- and blues-based approach. Her storytelling songwriting and romantic, yearning voice coupled with classic instrumentals yield a certain nostalgia--perhaps for something one never had.
